“We do not forecast in agile “. This is a common misconception. The most common rationale for this is that there are too many unknowns, and it is impossible to predict everything. This is true, but does that mean we blindly keep doing what we are doing and find out if we will achieve our goal whenever? No Achieving goals means delivering value when we or the market needs it, not after! Take the analogy of - kids receiving presents after Christmas - no thanks! In agile, we want to know, as soon as possible, if we won't meet our goal... so we can do something about it. In agile we do this by breaking our work into Iterations and forecasting after everyone, so we increase the feedback loop frequency. We generate empirical forecast data continuously. We know we will miss the goal early so we can control things like scope, change operating processes, prioritise the highest value... Etc. #agile #lean #scrum
